Business organizations appoint managers to build effective and efficient business operations that lead to the delivery of the desired results. It remains the responsibility of a manager to achieve results. It is also their responsibility to continually enhance their own management capabilities and to employ external resources to introduce best practices and common and specific knowledge in their organization;

Introducing new or existing management techniques in an organization is a matter of trust in the methodology, the proposed recommendation and in the (team of) people bringing the message.  Therefore management, training and consultancy must be based on a trusted relationship;

In several business areas and essentially in IT, different think tanks have established best practices. These are generally free to use and do eventually realize their benefits when implemented;

Changes and improvements in organizations are based on what already exists. It is of primordial importance to start improvement programs from the solid base of the historical and cultural background of an organization: acceptance of the change will be achieved more easily and many of the basic capabilities can be re-used.
